still here ... Sunday 13th

Temperature was 35 this morning at 5:00-- nice, and the tap ran easily. No deep freeze during the night, but between 5:00 and 8:00 it dropped to 31, and the roads are a sheet of ice from last night's rains. Still no traffic moving here on the Loop-- and 101 is silent. Normally I can hear a pretty steady hum of traffic out there-- both the through traffic of truckers on long hauls, and the weekday work sounds, and a Sunday morning buzz of folks bound home-- or maybe to churches--? Today's silence is eerie.

Molly took a look outside, but heard a dog bark somewhere near and came back in-- that bark has been the only sound of life hereabout all morning to now, 8:39 a.m. No bird activity, no walkers ... I canceled my morning walk-- rather, Nancy canceled it, as she had gone out to get the newspaper and found walking dangerous and improbable to be doing, even on a front porch ...

So-- nothing lively to report here-- it is cold, not snowing or raining, though it rained last night-- and the temp seems to be dropping even more--?
