One of These Days

It's impossible to ever get caught up on things, it seems like. Today so far (and I've been up several hours, although it's only seven in the morning right now) I've run two loads of dishes and two loads of laundry, as well as picking up stuff and organizing a bit. And still the kitchen needs work and I have piles of clothes waiting to be washed.

Brandon's working on some sort of still life for his drawing class; I haven't seen what he's doing, but it apparently involves three glasses and a lamp. (I don't know if the lamp is merely the light source, or if it is part of the drawing.) Brandon fell asleep and dreamed that when he woke up somebody had scurried off with the glasses and lamp; fortunately it was only a dream, but both Paul and I have been carrying off dishes wherever we find them, so I can easily guess where that dream came from.

Here's my version of the beatitudes from Matthew, done a couple of weeks back:

Good for the poor in spirit, since the sky’s regime is for them.
Good for the sad, since they’re going to be cheered up.
Good for the self-effacing, since they’re going to inherit the earth.
Good for the people who are hungry and thirsty for what’s right, since they’re going to have a feast.
Good for the compassionate, since they’re going to be shown compassion.
Good for the people pure in heart, since they’re going to see God.
Good for the people who make peace, since they’re going to be called sons of God.
Good for the people persecuted on account of what’s right, since the regime of the skies belongs to them.
Good for you when they insult you and persecute you and say all sorts of bad things falsely about you on account of me.
Celebrate and have a good time, since your reward in the skies is large. This is the same way they persecuted the prophets who came before you.

And so on and so forth.
