well, epiphany

Old Christmas Day, on the Julian calendar. The date of a nocturnal rite in honor of Kore, which, says Pagan BOD, was held overnight 5-6 January in the Koreion at Alexandria, adding, "It was a mystic drama preparing the way for Kore/Persephone's rise into the world." So, a first anticipation of the coming of spring, of sprouting and budding, a rising action in the earth, to meet the lengthening light.

Rainy here. We canceled the walk in favor of staying dry. Last night's driver canceled going out to the Stafford reading for the same reason--"Too dark. Too gloomy." Season of canceling, I guess. Good ole January ....

More anon.
